In Japan, cars are subject to an extremely strict annual inspection and taxed exponentially more each year - leading to a bottleneck of very well-maintained vehicles that aren’t economical to run domestically. Couple that with Japanese cultural values of pride, cleanliness and meticulous maintenance and you have a pool of incredible cars to buy from. MotorCap chooses the best quality, low mileage examples which are all inspected by our agents on the ground before bringing them to the UK for sale to the trade.
Prep
Once the vehicles arrive in the UK we MOT, register and do all conversion work necessary (radio frequency / speedo / maps where applicable) to make them comparable to UK stock.
About Us
MotorCap was set up by Ben Collins - better known as The Stig from BBC’s Top Gear. Ben knows the UK trade from a unique perspective and brings that knowledge to the team from having worked in areas as diverse as racing, to warranties and sales. The face of MotorCap, Ben's presence on the team helps set MotorCap apart. Ben is supported by three directors from the UK automotive industry; Will Whinfrey (CEO) has worked in automotive arbitrage for 25 years and together with Jack Burnford (COO & Automotive TV Director) & Larry Hayes (CFO & Lawyer / accountant) they team set out with the aim to revolutionise and standardise how cars imported from Japan were being offered to the UK trade.
